A Private Liberal Arts college, Bloomfield was founded by the Presbytery of Newark in 1868. It originally began as German Theological School with the mission of making leaders for the missionary duties and churches, especially with huge German settlers at the time, a German speaking theological school became an important need. The school soon grew along with growing needs of its communities and by 1909 was authorized to grant degrees and in 1961 got its present name.
Bloomfield College stays affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and is situated in Bloomfield, New Jersey. A liberal arts university and a Catholic institute, Caldwell was established as a college in 1939 as it was incorporated by the State of New Jersey. The college was founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic lead by Mother M. Joseph Dunn. It was in late 2013 that the college received approval for transitioning as a university however it officially began as a university in 2014.
There are many academic programs that the university was the first one to introduce in the entire state of New Jersey, such as its Bachelors of Fine Arts program when it introduced in 1974, specialization in Art Therapy which it started offering in 2000, and a Post-Graduate M.A. in Art Therapy in 2008. The university is situated in Caldwell, New Jersey.
Life at Caldwell University is all about everything that it believes its students need for complete development. A Private liberal arts college Centenary was founded by the Newark Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1867. Drew is a private university that traces its origins to the seminary that was founded in year 1867, after Daniel Drew approached Methodist Centenary Celebration with the idea for a theological seminary a year before in 1866. The seminary opened but by 1928 came the turning point when liberal arts were added to the seminary as part of curriculum. Felician University (FU), a Catholic, Franciscan institute, is private co-educational university located in two campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey. FU is a higher education institute that has been established along with other two higher institutions by the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Felix of Cantalice “Felician Sisters” of Lodi since July 1923. FU was founded as the Normal School to train and certify teachers for more than 10 years. On May 1935, the Normal school as accredited by the Catholic University of America to be a teacher training college. Georgian Court University is a private Roman Catholic University that was established in 1908 by the Sisters of Mercy. The institution was initially located in North Plainfield, New Jersy as a school for liberal arts for women named Mount Saint Mary College. Kean University is a public coeducational higher education institute located in New Jersey on the banks of Elizabeth River. The university was established in 1855 in Newark under the name of The Newark Normal School. It initially served as a teacher education college. In 1937, the school name was changed to New Jersey State Teachers College. It moved in 1958 from Newark to Union township as the number of students increased significantly. The new location was the historic Livingston-Kean Estate including the Liberty Hall acreage, the historic James Townley House, and Kean Hall. The latter was the political meeting place and library of the senator Hamilton Fish Kean. In 1973, the name was changed again to Kean College of New Jersey. Monmouth University is a private higher education institute located in West Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey. The university was established in 1933 and was initially named Monmouth Junior College. The name was changed in 1956 to Monmouth College before being changed again in 1995 to its current name after being recognized as university.

The campus also offers 16 residential halls to the students including Beechwood Hall, Cedar Hall, University Bluffs, Oakwood Hall, Pinewood Hall and Spruce Hall. The official colors of the university are midnight blue and white. Its athletic teams, who are nicknamed Monmouth Hawks, compete in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as members of NCAA Division I.

Montclair State University is a public research higher education institute located in Montclair, New Jersey. It was established in 1908 as a normal school under the name of New Jersey State Normal School at Montclair. The first class consisted of 187 students taught by 8 faculty members on a campus that covers 25 acres. In 1915, the school established its first residential hall which is known as Russ Hall. In 1927, the college name was changed to Montclair State Teachers College and was the first institute to offer a Bachelor of Arts program in Pedagogy. The name was changed again in 1958 to Montclair State College after it merged with Panzer College of Physical Education and Hygiene. New Jersey City University is a public higher education institute located in Jersey City, New Jersey. It was established in 1929 and was initially named the New Jersey State Normal School at Jersey City. New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a public research higher education institute located in Newark, New Jersey. The college was established in 1881 by a group of inventors and industrialists including Edward Weston. It was initially named Newark Technical School. The first class started at the school three years later and included 88 students who were taught in a rented place. The school started construction of its first building in 1886 which was later called Colton Hall. By 1930, the college expanded into a conventional engineering school and its name was accordingly changed to Newark College of Engineering. Rider is a private higher education institute that has its roots in The Trenton Business College which was founded in 1865 by Henry Beadman Bryant and Henry D. Stratton. It started as an all-male institute but opened its doors to women in 1896. With further improvement, it evolved into a business college and then later into a college due to its academic expansion.

The present-day university was founded in the year 1972 after it received the approval from the New Jersey Board of Education a year before. It was initially formed as the Thomas Edison State College and it was in the year 2015 that it was given university status.
The university took its name after Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor and who spent a major part of his adult years in the state of New Jersey. Taking inspiration from its namesake, the focus at the institution is learning, progress, creativity, and development for intellect for ‘self-directed adults’.
Life of a student is flexible and open to self-planning at the Thomas Edison State University, for it’s not a university in the traditional sense. The students choose their own learning pace and completion of their degrees, at the time and place they find most suitable. Since it offers education for the adults, there is more than one option to continue with the academic journey; the options consist of online programs, credit transfers, credit-bearing exams, and prior learning assessment. The university attendance is not completely barred for those enrolled at the university. The students attend commencement, and give their exams but can also pay a visit to the institute to meet an advisor. Student support is considered an important part of the institute’s culture. Besides these, appreciation of arts and creativity at TESU is not what is known to all; the university holds many art pieces in its buildings and facilities. An entire room is dedicated to Prudence Townsend Kelsey exhibiting her collectables which she collected in her trips. It is called Prudence Townsend Kelsey Memorial Room.
The academic programs offered at the university consist of associate, bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs in 100+ areas of study and also undergraduate, graduate and professional certificates. Its prominent facilities/departments are Hanover Hall, George A. Pruitt Hall, Kuser Mansion, The Kelsey Complex, Watson School of Public Service and W. Bais Medrash Toras Chesed is a private four year institute offering Jewish studies. It was established in the year 2000 and offers religious education to a small student population in Lakewood, New Jersey. Under the current leadership of Rabbi Nosson Stein and Rabbi Gelfand, this religious institute has come a long way in a short span of time, starting with only 35 students being enrolled the first day the institute opened its doors in the city.
The institute’s location is crucial to its mission in serving the Jewish communities as preserving Jewish heritage. The township of Lakewood is home to large Orthodox Jewish population and so the institute has developed as a center for Jewish ideology and renaissance.
The campus life at BMTC is a combination of academics and also time for socializing and interacting with each other. Fridays are the usual days for the students to spend their time off from studies to make visits off campus. Every alternate Friday students join the local families as latter host them. Similarly, a meal together with everyone in the yeshiva is also held on Friday evenings, once a month. In this small event, students give speech and learn public speaking. During winters, these Friday evening meals are complemented with discussions and seminars. Students are also encourages to do volunteer work in their free time. They involve themselves in raising funds for Lev L’Achim, helping local children with schoolwork. Outreach programs are also conducted during summer breaks. The institute also runs a publication program, publishing scholarly papers by faculty and students.
At the institute, the students are required to undergo rigorous routine involving studies on Talmud while staying on the campus is mandatory for the freshmen. Through this, the students stay focused on their studies, connect with other students and involve with faculty and teacher on a higher level needed to get a firm grasp on the knowledge. It offers Bachelor’s degree in Talmud studies and Rabbinical studies and the programs are accredited by Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools, Accreditation Commission.

A private and all male institute, Beth Medrash Govoha began in 1943 and was founded by Rabbi Aharon Kotler and Rabbi Nosson Meir Wachtfoge. Over the years, the yeshiva has grown and served many students in the country, however it remains closely associated with the Kotler family, family of one of the founders. The leadership since the start of the institute has stayed within the family, who has been greatly involved with the preparation of its students into religious leaders and scholars needed in the world today.
BMG classifies itself as the Haredi yeshiva located in Lakewood Township, New Jersey. It has been licensed by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education and accredited by the Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools. With all its years of struggle to serve the Jewish community, the yeshiva has come to become the largest yeshiva in the country and counted amongst the largest in the world.
This yeshiva introduces a unique curriculum around Talmudic studies to its students. The academics centers on classic Torah studies using the Talmud, Rabbinic, Responsa and two other literature sources. Students study through ‘Chaburah’ system which means to study in groups; groups of scholars sit along with their study partners and study a subject with the same pace as their partners. These groups are further monitored by a head or a leader typically called rosh chaburah. The tradition of arranging in groups and arranging partners are done on the Tumul day. On this day, the students decide with their partners about the study subjects and check compatibility with each other regarding studying in the group. Another distinctive feature about BMG is provision of scholarship and allowance that it has continued since its beginning. It would provide allowance to its married students early in the start, however supporting 5,000 married students isn’t possible for the institute though it still provides compensation called the ‘Kolel check’.
The institute runs two semesters in a year and students are enrolled /admitted in both of the semesters.

EIC is an institute providing specialised education and training in the field of medical practices. It started in 1990 as Micro Tech Training Center and was based in East Orange, offering computer training. Within some time, the institute not only received approval by New Jersey Department of Education but was also accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. As it saw change in employment trends, the institute began offering training in healthcare fields in 2002.
It relocated several times and came to be based in Jersey City in 2000 and extended to another campus in Belleville, New Jersey in 2004. Over time, the college has extended its curriculum, adding practical learning opportunities and focusing on not only professional skill development but also social and personal development.
Eastern International College has become an institute which fosters the development of practical skill set and for that, brings experiential learning platforms. As for the academic programs offered at EIC, it includes four Associate degree programs and a Bachelors degree programs in dental, nursing and medical practices disciplines.

Princeton University is a private research institute located in Princeton, New Jersey. The university was established in 1746 in Elizabeth City under the name of College of New Jersey with the aim of training ministers. It is the fourth higher education institute to be established in the United States and among the 9 colleges to be established before the American Revolution. The college relocated after one year to Newark before moving in 1756 to its current location. The college continued to operate in a single building; Nassau Hall till 1803 when Stanhope Hall was built. In 1802, Nassau Hall was damaged by fire which happened again in 1855. The students of class 1879 donated twin lion sculptures that were placed at the entrance till 1911 when the same class replaced them with tigers. The university granted the first doctoral degree in 1879. The college name was changed in 1896 to its current name. In 1969, the university became a coeducational institute and started to admit women. The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a public higher education institute located in Ewing, New Jersey. The college was established in 1855 under the name of New Jersey State Normal School. It was then the first normal school to be established in New Jersey and the ninth in the United States. In 1908, the phrase “in Trenton” was added to its official name. In 1925, the school started offering four-year baccalaureate degree programs. In 1928, the college purchased 210 acres to relocate from Trenton on Clinton Avenue to its current location. The first building to be completed was Green Hall which was built in traditional Georgian colonial style. In the following year, the college changed its name again to “New Jersey State Teachers College and State Normal School at Trenton”. The name changed again in 1937 and 1958 before finally gaining its current name in 1996. The college started in 1947 offering graduate degree programs. In 2013, the college established the Campus Town complex on 12 acres. The complex consists of seven residential and commercial buildings including a Campus Town Clock Tower.
TCNJ campus covers 289 acres. It has several distinctive buildings and facilities including June Walker Field, George Ackerman Park, Roscoe L. West Hall, Forcina Hall, Kendall Hall and Bliss Hall. The campus also offers several residential halls including Allen Hall, Brewster Hall, Ely Hall, Norsworthy Hall, Eickhoff Hall, Cromwell Hall and Decker Hall. The college library is known as R. Barbara Gitenstein Library. It is a five-story library including a 105-seat multi-purpose auditorium. The campus also hosts the David Sarnoff Museum, which was formerly located at Princeton Junction. The college has several publications including the Signal Newspaper, TCNJ Magazine, Lions Television and WTSR non-commercial radio station.
