CWU is a public university that was established in 1891 as Washington State Normal School. The school opened up to serve the educational needs for formally trained elementary and high school teachers. CPTC is a technical training and education institute that was founded as simply a program of War Production Training, in the year 1941. It was formed following a need for professionals and workers for repairing and maintenance of military and ordinance equipment during WWII. Cornish is a private arts institute that was founded in the year 1914 by Nellie Cornish. Cornish being a piano teacher founded the Cornish School of Music and started teaching in rented facilities. Beginning her journey alone, she was soon joined in by other professionals in the field and soon the institute took the shape of a normal school. EWU, a public university began in year 1882 when it was founded as Benjamin P. Cheney Academy, named after its founder. Faith International University is a religious private institute founded in 1969 in Tacoma, Washington by Lutherans Alert National (LAN) organization. The name of the university changed several times since its establishment. It was first named Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary. In 2005, the word Lutheran was removed to indicate its interdenominational nature and Five years later the word college was added to its name reflecting the degree programs that it offers. In 2016, its name was finally changed to Faith International University. The university had only two presidents till now. The first one was the Rev. Dr. R. H. Gonzaga University is a Roman Catholic private university founded in 1881 as Gonzaga College by the Italian-born priest and missionary Father Joseph Cataldo, S.J. Green River College (GRC) is a public college that is located in Auburn region, Washington State. The history of GRC establishment returns back to 1945 when a huge learning event in Washington was held by the Auburn School District offering adult evening education programs. The program gained high reputation that the citizens at that time decided that this region “Green Valley” was in high need of establishment of a community college. Heritage University is a private non-profit non-denominational higher education institute. It was established by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1907 under the name Holy Names College in Spokane, Washington. Lake Washington Institute of Technology is a public two-year technical college located in Kirkland, Washington. The institute was established in 1949 by Lake Washington School District as an adult vocational training program under the name of Lake Washington Technical College. Initially, the college offered only sewing program which was later expanded to include automotive, culinary arts and engineering. It was decided in 1978 to establish a new facility for the school. Northwest Indian College (NWIC) is a tribal higher education institute located in Bellingham, Washington. The college was established in 1973 under the name of “Lummi Indian School of Aquaculture” with the aim of providing local technicians to work in Indian-owned and operated fish and shellfish hatcheries. In 1983, the college received its charter from the Lummi Community as the Lummi Community College to provide more comprehensive post-secondary education. Northwest University is a private non-profit Christian higher education institute of liberal arts. Establishment of the university started in 1928 following a decision by the annual meeting of the Northwest District Council of the Assemblies of God. The idea was finally approved by council members from all of the states in the District five years later. The university started offering classes in 1934 as a bible college under the name of Northwest Bible Institute. In 1949, the college president resigned as a result of the political stress that faced the Seattle area. Five months later, the institute changed its name to Northwest Bible College after choosing Charles Butterfield as its new president. In 1952, the college was granted full accreditation from the Association of Bible Colleges. At the same time, the college was recognized by the United States Department of Education as a higher education school. In 1958, the college received 22-acre piece of land as a donation from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. The college expanded the land by purchasing 12 additional acres. In 1959, classes started on the branch campus. In 1984, the college decided to rent 12 acres adjacent to the campus to the Seattle Seahawks team for 20 years. In 2004, the board of directors voted to change the name of the college to its current name. Four years later, Salem Bible College merged into the university and was named Salem Bible College of Northwest University.

Pacific Lutheran University is a private coeducational liberal arts university located in Parkland, Washington. The university was established in 1890 by Norwegian Lutheran pioneers and got its charter from the state in the same year. The first class started at the university four years later including 30 students. Tuition for the university was initially determined to be $1 per week. In 1898, the name of the college was changed to Pacific Lutheran Academy and Business College. The university continued to operate in a single building, which was known as Old Main, till 1912. UW is a public research higher education institute which traces its roots to earliest in 1854 when the then territorial governor suggested a higher education institute be built. After the land for the university was founded, it had its start in the year 1861 as Territorial University of Washington. UW Tacoma is a public higher education institute and a campus to the University of Washington. It began as part of the realization for the need to have higher education institutes in the region and the decision to establish them as branch campuses to the University of Washington. The suggestion was first made in year 1986 and this campus opened in the year 1990, with its first classes being held in an eight story building.

Bastyr was originally founded as John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine. It emerged out of the need to save Naturopathic branch of medicine in the state of Washington. Seattle, at the time, was without an institute for Naturopathic education and soon it came to be that the licensure would also be put an end to by the legislators. In order to save both, three men, Drs. Les Griffith, William A. Mitchell, Jr. and Joseph E. Pizzorno, Jr. came forward. Experienced in their field and with a $ 200 donation they sat to work and produced an institute that in no time progressed into a university.
Over the years, Bastyr University grew its academic programs and because of the quality of its programs also received accreditation and now operates through two campuses: in Kenmore, Washington, and in San Diego, California.
Everything at Bastyr has to do with a healthy lifestyle, alternative medicine and sustainability. With a further step into sustainability, the student Village with the college is LEED certified, contributing for the better green of the entire region. These include Splash Dash where students dive in chilly water at the start of winter, Chinese New Year which is celebrated with tai chi sessions and Chinese food. DigiPen is a private and for profit institute that traces its history to being founded as primarily research institute for computer science and animation in Vancouver, Canada. It was founded by Claude Comair in the year 1988. It took a couple of years before it started to offer educational programs and thereon added further programs. In 1996 it was first granted permission to award degrees in United States. Within two years, it opened a campus in America and by 2002 received national accreditation.
The institute is presently based in Redmond in Washington, United States but also has international campuses in Singapore and Bilbao, Spain. DigiPen Institute of Technology has become a centre for education in video game development training students in the field of software developing and designing and others as they enter the entertainment and media industry.
DigiPen offers a warm yet vibrant environment as students and teachers interact with other, creating a more inclusive community. Students take part in more than 40 student led clubs which serve as learning units outside of classrooms and work for network building among students. There is the office of student affairs which generally looks after the student life at the campus, but most importantly brings events and activities. The two most important events held yearly is, Commencement, and Family and Friends Weekend. Considering its responsibility to launch its students into their careers, the institute complements education with career services, helping students through career fairs, job and internship fairs, conferences, workshops and lectures through guests on how to set the right career course. Every summer the institute also organises Summer Workshops, aimed at elementary school, middle and high school students to provide them with education but also insight on how the profession and career building in the fields of game designing, programming and others.
As for the academic programs, DigiPen offers eight Bachelors degree programs and two Masters Degree programs.

Northwest College of Art & Design (NCAD) is a private for-profit higher education institute. The college was established in 1982 by Craig N. Freeman. The college moved to its campus in Poulsbo, Washington in the early 1990s. It was relocated in 2017 to a new campus in downtown Tacoma.
The college states that its mission is to prepare the students to get rewarding opportunities within the creative careers. Its current campus is located in a modern 7-story building in Pacific Ave. It covers occupies 22,000 square feet in the building which covers 38,000 square feet in total. The campus offers some specialized facilities including 3 lecture rooms, 3 computer labs, and an art studio room in addition to multipurpose space for student use.

The Evergreen State College is a public higher education institute located in Olympia, Washington. It was established in 1967 as an experimental and non-traditional institute. Establishment was a response from the Temporary Advisory Council on Public Higher Education to a report highlighting the need to a college to balance the geographical distribution of the existing state institutions. The first class was held in 1971 and included 1128 students. In 1999, the prisoned writer Mumia Abu-Jamal was invited to deliver the keynote address at the graduation ceremony by audiotape. Some people protested against this step. In 2004, the college opened the Seminar II building with total space of 16,000 square meters. The college has long history in advocating the rights of minorities. In 1970s, the college held annually the Day of Absence, during which students of minorities stay voluntary off-campus to highlight their contributions and discuss racial issues. The following day is called the Day of Presence when the students reunite again. In 2017, the format of the Day of Absence was changed by asking white students to stay voluntary off-campus. The change sparked a series of events that affected the campus safety and finally resulted in closure of the campus for 3 days for safety concerns and resignation of two professors after receiving $500,000 compensation.
The college has a large campus covering 1,000 acres. It has several prominent facilities including Daniel J. Evans Library which is named in honor of the Governor who approved the establishment of the college and who also served as its second president. Additionally, the campus has an Environmental reserve, a beach and an organic farm. The campus hosts several public service centers as the Longhouse Education and Cultural Center.
Evergreen follows a unique curriculum that is based on quarters. There are no majors in the undergraduate and the students have to choose a single program each quarter instead of individual courses. Students finally receive Bachelor of Arts or Science degrees. The college also offers 3 masters programs that follow the conventional system of courses.

Trinity Lutheran College was a Christian higher education institute of liberal arts located in Everett, Washington. The college was established in 1944 under the name of Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle. It was initially a small school the offered biblical studies education only. In 1980, the college expanded its campus by moving to another location in Issaquah, Washington. This campus was formerly used by Providence Heights College. The school sold part of its campus that was unoccupied shortly after moving. The college supported its development to be used as retirement community under the name of Providence Point. In 1990s, the college received its accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The name of the college was then changed to the current name. At this time, the college started offering wider range of programs. The college also started an initiative to admit low-income students who were the first in their families to join a college. In 2008, financial challenges motivated the relocation of the college to a smaller campus in Everett, Washington. Unfortunately, the number of enrolled students continued to decline till 2016 when it was decided to close the college.
Trinity last campus was located at the corner of California Street and Wetmore Avenue. It consisted of 5 floors that offered administrative offices, classrooms and other educational facilities. The college also offered free housing to the students in a nearby facility. Trinity athletic teams were members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the National Christian College Athletics Association Division I. Their mascot was the Eagle while their official colors were blue and yellow.
Trinity offered 23 academic programs granting bachelor and associate degrees in addition to certificates. After closure of the college, it continued as an educational foundation that collects donations to offer scholarships to students.
