A State sponsored and a Public Liberal Arts university, ASU initially began as a teacher’s college founded by Billy Adams. Being a Colorado Legislator, Adams worked hard to get authorization and after three decade long struggle finally set up Adams State Normal School in 1921. The school began with a mission to create opportunities and better qualified teachers from even the most distant corners of Colorado. Under exceptional leadership over the years, the school turned into a college and eventually grew into a thriving and progressive university that it is today. A Public research university, CSU began in the year 1870, before Colorado was made into a state, as Colorado Agricultural College. CSU–Pueblo is a public university that was founded in the year 1933 as a junior college as Southern Colorado Junior College (SCJC). By 1937, soon after its establishment, the college was renamed as Pueblo Junior College (PJC). The campus life at Johnson & Wales University-Denver is a unique combination of knowledge and its application as students find many extracurricular activities which offer them practical insights and experiences. Understanding the need to shape the students as the leaders for their communities, the development begins at the university through development programs such as Emerging Leader Series or active community participation. Marywood University is a coeducational higher education institute for liberal arts. It was founded by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1915 as a college for female students. The first class included 34 students and the first graduation was held on 1919 granting the students bachelor degrees. In 1937, the college refused an offer to merge with St. Thomas College which was then affiliated to the Christian Brothers. Marywood started accepting male students and becoming a coeducational institute in 1989. It was recognized as a university by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in 1997.
The university has a suburban campus covering 115 acres in in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It offers several distinctive buildings and facilities as the Swartz Center for Spiritual Life which includes the Marian Chapel, the Fricchione Day Care Center, Immaculata Hall which was named in honor of the college’s first dean Sister M. Immaculata Gillespie, the Insalaco Center for Studio Arts which contains the Kresge Gallery, and Maria Hall which is among the original buildings found on campus. Other prominent structures include the Memorial Arch, the Nazareth Student Center, the O’Neill Center for Healthy Families, the Rotunda, the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts and the McGowan Center for Graduate and Professional Studies. The campus offers 8 residential options including Loughran Hall, Madonna Hall, Regina Hall and the Woodland Residences. Marywood announced in 1975 that the campus would be an arboretum in honor of Sister Maria Laurence Maher which was a professor of Biological sciences. The arboretum was officially recognized in 1997. The official colors of the university are white and forest green. Its athletic teams, who are nicknamed Pacers, compete in NCAA Division III and are members of CSAC and ECAC conferences.

Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) is a public state supported higher education institute. It was established in 1965 under the name of Metropolitan State College. It acted as an opportunity school which means that it aimed at allowing chances to education to all students including low-income students. In 1990, the name was changed again to Metropolitan State College of Denver. The college changed its academic calendar in 2008 to complete its semester before the start of the Democratic National Convention. The campus was closed during the convention based on the decision of the United States Secret Service. In 2011, students and faculty voted to change the institute name to Denver State University, however, the name change was faced by objection from the University of Denver. The Decision was cancelled and the name was changed in the following year to its current name. The university was the first university to admit DREAMers, which refers to refugees arriving at the United States when they were younger than 16.
The university campus is located in Denver, Colorado in the Auraria Neighborhood covering 126 acres. Naropa University is a non-profit private higher education institute for liberal arts. It was established in 1974 by Chögyam Trungpa who was a Tibetan Buddhist. It was named Naropa Institute in honor of the 11th-century Indian Buddhist sage Naropa. The college was supervised by the Nalanda Foundation. In the first summer after establishment of the college, the institute established the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. In the following year, Naropa started offering its first normal degree programs. The institute then started its first graduate degree program in psychology which was initially an extension of Trungpa’s Maitri program that is a 4-month meditation program. In 1977, the college was applied to regional accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools which inspected the institute starting 1986 before granting the accreditation two years later. In 2010, the university faced legal issues when a finance department employee was found to have stolen $450,000 from the institute over 2 years. The incident resulted in the termination of the position of three employees. Starting 2012, the university started establishing electrophysiology research labs which were later expanded by the establishment of the Cognitive and Affective Sciences Laboratory in 2016.
The university adopts the principles of contemplative education which is known for all Shambhala Buddhist organizations including the university. This kind of education involves activities as taijiquan, meditation, the Japanese tea ceremony, ikebana, Christian labyrinth and neo-pagan ritual. Starting 2008, the university required all students to have three semester hours of “Body-Mind Practice” as well as three semester hours of “World Wisdom Traditions”. Additionally, the university holds annual Community Practice Day during which all university members are invited to group meditation practice.
The university operates three campuses; Arapahoe campus, Nalanda campus and Paramita campus. Arapahoe, which is the main campus, is located in Boulder, Colorado and includes several distinctive buildings as Lincoln Building, Sycamore Hall, Wulsin Hall, Allen Ginsberg Library and Chestnut House.

Regis is a private Roman Catholic university that was founded by Italian Jesuits, who were exiled. They established Las Vegas College in the year 1877 and originally, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Not long had passed, when in 1884 the college relocated to Morrison, Colorado and was renamed as Sacred Heart.

CU Denver is a public research higher educational institute that is part of the University of Colorado system. The Denver University was founded in 1864, six years after the establishment of the Colorado territory in what is currently known as Denver city. It was originally called the Colorado seminary, and later in 1880 it was renamed the Denver University, although it is still legally named as the Colorado seminary. DU has grown along with the growth of Denver city, the campus was originally located in downtown Denver in the 1860s and 1870s, but it has been relocated into the current campus, seven miles south of downtown Denver. DU grew rapidly after World War II, benefiting from GI bill which increased student enrollment into the university up to 13,000 students, the largest in the history of the university. This significant growth helped improve the reputation of the university from a regional institution into a nationwide recognized institution.
The campus of DU is an arboretum covering 125 acres. It contains a number of historic buildings such as the Evan’s chapel and the Buchtel tower, in addition to the Chamberlain observatory that is open to the public twice weekly. DU also has another observatory, the Meyer-Womble Observatory which contains the 11th highest telescope in the world, located at an elevation of about 14,000 feet. DU’s athletic teams, who are known as the Denver Pioneers, compete in NCAA division I as members of the Summit League. Their official colors are crimson and gold.
DU offers more than 100 undergraduate degrees and 120 graduate degrees. UNC is a public, higher education and research institute which has its roots in the State Normal School, founded in 1889 as the state governor signed the bill. In 1890, the school opened its doors for instruction and made great progress thereon. Soon, it evolved into a state teachers college and as it expanded its program offerings, it changed into a state college.
Its transformation into a university happened in 1970 as it made further expansions in its academics. Offering a diverse set of programs and a learning-centric approach, University of Northern Colorado continues to make positive contributions to the success of its students. It is based in Greeley, Colorado.
At the campus of UNC, the students enjoy a vibrant and engaging campus life. They benefit from participating in more than 100 student-run organizations. These serve as primary forums to meet new people and discuss new ideas. A governing student body also works on campus and is open to student participation. It works to regulate student life and also serves as an excellent opportunity to be engaged in volunteer work as well as learn leadership skills. There are other similar platforms for student engagement with the campus activities and programs such as Student Senate, Appeals Board, Research Day Planning Committee and many more. CC is a private liberal arts college that was founded in the year 1874. Its story however began in 1871 when General William Jackson Palmer, who had founded Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, reserved resources for a college to be established. His vision took shape when Thomas Nelson Haskell established a coeducational Christian liberal arts college. Gradually over the years the college has added considerably to its campus.
Colorado College is situated in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and since its start has committed itself to providing the highest quality education, one that offers resourceful academics, practical exposure, passion for exploring and a complete transformation of intellect and reasoning, for the better.
At CC, learning takes place both inside and outside the classrooms. Students find interests, activities and skill learning in more than a hundred student led clubs and organisations. There are student representation committees, such as the Student Life which aims to enhance the experience and also student outreach which helps go beyond campus and engage with the communities. Community engagement takes place through student groups, fellowships and community based research. The most interesting and innovative aspect of student life at CC is the program ‘Block Plan’. It is the academic schedule that takes place four blocks a semester and eight blocks a year, where each block lasts for three and a half weeks. Students take a different course each week where classes held are focused, and providing practical training. The college also has athletics for its students as a recreational opportunity. Its teams ‘Tigers’ take part in NCAA Division III and its campus colors are Black and Gold.
CC offers undergraduate programs with 42 majors and 33 minors in 37 fields of study. It also offers a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program. Its prominent facilities and buildings are Tutt Library, Russell T. Tutt Science Center, Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, William I. CHU is a private university that traces its roots to the Loretto Heights Academy found in 1886. Although it was almost a century later that the present institute took shape. Loretto Heights Academy was a Catholic high school for girls and over the years this high school transformed into a college offering programs in education, business, nursing and others. Things took a turn in 1989, when Teikyo Loretto Heights University was opened on the campus of the former college.
In 2009, owned by Teikyo University Group, a Japan based educational foundation; the university changed its name to Colorado Heights University. Its programs received national accreditation however the university has been scheduled to be shut down by the fall of 2017.
CHU is based in Denver, Colorado, and attracted students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. It offered an exciting campus with plenty of opportunities for development. The campus offered student groups, clubs and organisations that act both as learning platform and interpersonal skill development centers as students interact with each other and take part in activities. All year round, the campus offered events and activities making their journeys fun and enjoyable such as trips to Elitch Garden, Dinosaur Ridge, Garden of the Gods, attending games and more. Also, since academics form an important part, student support wasn’t ignored. Although the students were provided personalised attention, there were additional tutoring services and academic advising for student lacking in certain areas or finding difficult to continue. Not only this, but career services were also offered preparing a successful platform even before the students have graduated. Not just professionally, the service prepared students for the global economy and their positive contribution in it.
Academic programs offered were International Business Degree including Bachelors degree program, MBA degrees in international business and English programs (English as a second language). Its campus colors are Black, Red, Grey, and White.

Fort Lewis College (FLC) is a public liberal arts college founded in 1911 and located in Durango, Colorado, USA. The history of FLC comes back to the first Fort Lewis army post that was established in Pagosa Springs in 1878. After couple of years, it was relocated to Hesperus, Colorado in 1880 and then converted into a federal Indian boarding school, in 1891. The fort’s buildings and property were transferred from Hesperus to the state of Colorado to establish agricultural and mechanics high school in 1911. It was enlarged in 1930 to a two-year college and then was converted into Fort Lewis A&M college in 1948. FLC expanded in 1964 into a four-year institution to award baccalaureate degrees. It became part of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges in 1995 and formed its own board of trustees in 2002.
The mission of FLC is to introduce an integrated and formative professional and liberal arts education, enabling citizens to participate in a complex world.
FLC is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and different other specialized accreditations were given to the departments of chemistry, engineering, etc. The college won many prestigious awards including: one of the best western colleges, in Princeton review; Best colleges in liberal arts colleges according to the U.S. News & World Report, ranked 572 out of the 650 America’s Top colleges in The 2016 Forbes list; within the Top 200 Schools for Native Americans, according to the American Indian Science & Engineering Society. Platt is a private higher education institute that was founded in year 1980 and began as an institute in San Diego. As this institute gained prominence and progress, it extended its physical outreach through an extension campus founded in Denver by 1986. It was founded by Jerald B. Sirbu and marked further progress for the college as it added more to its academic curriculum.
It added its first associate degree in 1991 and its bachelor’s degree in 1997. It did not stop there but added a School of Nursing in 2005 and by 2013, achieved an important milestone when it started offering its nursing courses through online education. With its long experience in education, the college has emerged as a leader in academics, teaching, intellectual growth and scholarship. Presently, the college is based in Aurora, Colorado.
Being a small college, Platt College offers every advantage for experiencing education through personal interaction and exchange of knowledge with the faculty members trained and expert in their fields. The students find every opportunity for free flow of knowledge and ideas. At the campus, the students find support for learning both inside and outside their academic fields. The campus community offers groups as well as committees which are responsible for bringing programs and maintaining an active life on the campus. The college has also maintained its contacts with ten regional hospitals which has brought practical exposure of the medical field through exchange of knowledge and experience during the study period. To further support its students for practical exposure in their medical fields, there are community service programs for the nursing students where they put in volunteer hours in serving the community. These mainly take part in public school system through short medical activities such as blood drives, flu shot clinics, working in safe shelters or holding vision or hearing screenings.
